Today’s testimonial post was written by one of our Cyber Maids of Honour, Ashley. Not only was it her first visit to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, it was also her first official business trip as a Weddings By Oceans’ destination wedding specialist!
Last week I had the opportunity to visit Punta Cana and stay at the Majestic Colonial. I can definitely see why this hotel is a number one choice for Punta Cana weddings. From the moment we stepped out of the cab I was wowed!
The Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana
We were greeted by friendly, welcoming staff at the reception who completed our check-in in record time!
My husband and I were in a Majestic Suite and we felt completely at home for our entire stay. We had a great view of the spectacular pool and off in the distance you could catch a glimpse of the beautiful turquoise waters.
The hotel was at 100% occupancy during our stay, but honestly it did not feel like it. There were always available lounge chairs by the pool or on the beach and we never had to wait for a table for any meals.
As far as food is concerned, we ate well while away. There were many options at every meal to keep even fussy eaters like myself full and satisfied. My favourite restaurant was the Mexican restaurant as it reminded me of my mother-in-law’s cooking in Mexico.
Destination weddings at the Majestic Colonial
During our stay, we witnessed several weddings including two Weddings By Oceans’ couples: Latoya & Andre and Jessica & Jermaine. The gazebo provides a semi-private area for a more intimate wedding where the beach location, although nice, did have the potential to draw a crowd of curious watchers.
The team in the hotel weddings department were great during all the ceremonies being held over the week. They were busy but always seemed to be smiling and ready to take on the next wedding.
The Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana
We were also given access to the Majestic Elegance for the duration of our stay. I was able to try the restaurants and facilities for the week – a definite perk to being a destination weddings specialist.
My favourite restaurant at the Majestic Elegance was the Japanese Tapanyaki restaurant.
Review conclusion
Overall I loved the Majestic Colonial & Majestic Elegance. I would recommend them both not only for weddings but for honeymooners as well as a nice getaway for couples and families.
Although we were in a tropical paradise, it wasn’t all play and no work. Megan and I spent a few days traveling around Punta Cana to visit other hotels and check out their wedding locations. Over the course of our trip we saw 15 additional hotels:
- Melia Caribe
- Melia Tropical
- Paradisus Palma Real
- Grand Palladium
- Occidental Grand Flamenco
- Ocean Blue
- Ocean Sand
- Iberostar Grand Bavaro
- Iberostar Bavaro
- Iberostar Punta Cana
- Iberostar Dominicana
- Dreams Punta Cana
- Sirenis Cocotal
- Excellence Punta Cana
- Paradisus Punta Cana
Stay tuned for reviews of these hotels in upcoming posts!
